San Jose Sharks Training Camp Roster 2023-24 includes Will Smith, Quentin Musty, Kasper Halttunen, Logan Couture, Tomas Hertl and more.

Filip Bystedt, Joey Muldowney, and Henry Thrun were some attendees at the development session. A total of 45 players attended the Sharks development camp in July.

Logan Couture is the current captain of the franchise. The Sharks were eliminated from the playoff contention in the last season and would be looking forward to putting on much better performances in the 2023-24 season.

Logan Couture

The captain of the franchise, Couture is one of the greatest strengths of the team. The Canadian center was drafted by the Sharks in 2007.

Couture recorded his 300th goal in the NHL on October 27, 2022, in a 4-3 overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Throughout the 2022-23 regular season, he posted 27 goals and 40 assists for 67 points.

In the 2018–19 season, Logan accumulated his personal-best 70 points and helped the Sharks reach the 3rd round in the playoffs. He finished that season leading in the playoff goals (14).

Alexander Barabanov

The Sharks forward, Alexander Barabanov concluded the 2022-23 season with 15 goals and 32 assists out of 68 games played in total.

The Russian player debuted in the NHL with the Maple Leafs on 13 January 2021 in a 5-4 overtime win match against the Montreal Canadiens. He was traded to the Sharks in April 2021.

His career with the Sharks started on 26 April 2021 in a 6-4 win match against the Coyotes. Barabanov posted his first NHL goal in that game.

William Eklund

Eklund is currently playing with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL. The 20-year-old left winger is a top prospect for the Sharks franchise.

He appeared in 8 NHL games during the recent 2022-23 season and had a record of 2 goals and 1 assist from a total of 8 games played.

While in the AHL, with the Barracuda during the same season, he played in 54 regular season games to register 17 goals and 24 assists.

When does San Jose Sharks Training Camp Start?

The San Jose Sharks development camp for the 2023-24 season started on Tuesday, July 4 at Sharks Ice and concluded on Thursday, July 6.

The Sharks made their development camp free and open to the public. However, the first day was a closed event and the fans could attend the next two days events.

Participants in the training session were some of the Sharks' newest prospects such as Will Smith and Quentin Musty, the fourth and 26th overall selections from the 2023 NHL Draft.

Other attendees for the development session were Filip Bystedt, Mattias Havelid, and Cam Lund, who are the draftees of the 2022 NHL draft.

In addition, more Sharks' prospects such as Thomas Bordeleau, Danil Gushchin, Tristen Robins, William Eklund, Henry Thrun, and Nick Cicek who appeared in at least one NHL game in the last season also participated in the training session.

Their training camp venue is situated at 1500 S. Tenth Street in San Jose, California. Sharks Ice is among only seven rink facilities in the United States operating at least six NHL-sized ice rinks. The venue is the largest rink facility in West Mississippi.

Spanning an area of 370,000 square feet, the official practice home of the Sharks franchise is used by different clubs and groups for figure skating, curling, speed skating, broomball, ice dancing, and public skating.

San Jose Sharks assistant coaches are Scott Gordon, Brian Wiseman and Ryan Warsofsky. Thomas Speer serves as goalie coach of the franchise.

Scott Gordon was selected as an assistant coach of the Sharks on August 12, 2022. Prior to his career with the Sharks, Gordon worked as the interim head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. He worked for the Flyers' AHL franchise Lehigh Valley Phantoms as their head coach.

Additionally, his coaching career in the NHL includes the Maple Leafs and New York Islanders. He was the Islanders head coach from 2008-10.

Another assistant coach to the club, Brian Wiseman was elected on the coaching panel on August 19, 2022. Before his journey with the Sharks, Wiseman was named as an assistant coach of the New York Islanders in July.

Ryan Warsofsky enters his NHL coaching career with the Sharks franchise. Previously, Warsofsky worked for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL and led the Wolves to the Calder Cup Final in 2022.

Nick Gialdini performs the job of Video Coach for the team assisted by Cody Ward. Mike Ricci, Tommy Wingels, Luca Sbisa, and Patrick Marleau are assigned the duty of Player Development Coach. Marleau also looks after hockey operations in addition to his coaching responsibility.

San Jose Sharks Head Coach - David Quinn

Quinn has been serving the Sharks as its head coach since July 26, 2022. He previously worked for the NY Rangers for 3 seasons from 2018-21.

With the Rangers, the prominent American coach recorded his first NHL regular season win over the Sharks franchise on October 11, 2018.

Ahead of his head coaching career with the NHL franchises, Quinn became head coach of his alma mater, Boston University's hockey program.

For a term of 2009-2012, Quinn served the Avalanche's AHL affiliate, Lake Erie Monsters as their head coach. In June 2012, the Colorado Avalanche named him as their assistant coach.

His career started with Northeastern University as its assistant coach. Quinn spent six years in the University of Nebraska-Omaha's program.

Later, he was selected as the USA Hockey's developmental coach. David then became an assistant at BU and helped the Terriers to win the 2009 National Championship title. 

Internationally, Quinn led the United States men's ice hockey team as the head coach for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
