The Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team is one of the best college hockey teams. They have won the NCAA championship nine times.
The Wolverines won the title last time around in 1998. They were runner-up in 2011. The team's current head coach is Brandon Naurato.
A number of athletes from the programs have relished great success in their post-Wolverines career and have been awarded several honors.
The NHL All-Stars Matty Beniers, Red Berenson, Kyle Connor, Max Pacioretty, Quinn Hughes, and Dylan Larkin among many others are former Wolverines. A number of players from the program are playing in the NHL.
A total of 6 players who played for the Wolverines have been inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. They are Vic Heyliger, Willard Ikola, John Matchefts, Wally Grant, John MacInnes, and Red Berenson.
In recent years, the team's performance has not been that blazing as compared to its own history. The Wolverines were most successful during the 1950s.
