Lindy Ruff family belongs to Warburg, Alberta. Lindy Ruff parents are Leeson Ruff and Shirley Ruff.

The Devils coach is the second child of the couple. He grew up in Warburg with his three siblings. All his siblings were keen on ice hockey.

The former professional ice hockey player entered the NHL through the Buffalo Sabres in 1979. In his 14 years of playing career, Ruff played for the Sabres and the New York Rangers.

The 63-year-old announced his retirement in 1993. Tii then played in 691 games of the NHL and tallied 105 goals with 195 assists.

Currently, the former player is mentoring the Devils in the National Hockey League. He previously coached the Sabres and Stars.  Apart from his professional life, Ruff is living a happy life with his better half and kids in Clarence, New York.

Lindy Ruff Wife

Lindy Ruff wife Gaye Ruff is from Lethbridge, Southern Alberta. Lindy Ruff and Gaye have been married since 1985.

Gaye is in her late fifties. She celebrates her birthday on June 10 every year.

According to her social media account, the coach's spouse has studied at the University of Alberta. She graduated from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in 1997.

The celebrity spouse prefers to keep her personal life away from the limelight. She rose to prominence as the better half of the head mentor of the NHL franchise New Jersey Devils.

The couple possibly met in their hometown. Ruff played with the Lethbridge team in the WHL and used to meet her parents.

Earlier, she looked after their four kids when he was busy playing and coaching. Now, she joins her husband in adventure. If not coaching, Lindy loves fishing and rides on mountain bikes.

Lindy Ruff has two daughters. They are Eryn and Madeline Ruff.

The eldest girl of the household studied at Clarence Senior High School. Later, she enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh. 

On the other side, Madeline has a twin sibling. She was born on August 16, 1994. Currently, she works as a doctor of occupational therapy.

Maddie began her professional career in 2015 as a persona;l care attendant at People Inc. Later she served as a clinical lead counselor at The Summit Center for over a year.

Regarding her institutional qualification, the youngest girl studied behavior and health science at Boston University. She graduated in 2017.

Later, she acquired a doctorate in philosophy from Belmont University. She shortly interned at Shine Pediatric Therapy earlier.

Both girls are active on Facebook. Surfing their social media accounts, both seem to be living life to the fullest. They often walk together on their big day's celebration.

Son

Brett is the first kid of the former ice hockey player, while Brian is the youngest.

Brett works as a coordinator of the Hockey Administration at the Buffalo Sabres. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Syracuse University.

On the personal front, Brett is married to the love of his life, Meredith Ruff. The lovebirds got engaged on June 29, 2021. The subsequent year, they walked down the aisle in August 2022.

The newlyweds reside in East Amherst, New York. Brett moved to the city in 2019 from Evanston, Illinois.

The youngest boy, Brian, shares the same birthday as his twin sister, which is August 16. He is closest to his twin sister in comparison to the rest.

Junior Ruff increased his interest in hockey, looking at his father playing. The former player threw skates on his feet when he was young. However, he never forced him to choose sports.

According to the former Sabres player, his father promised to support him no matter what he does, whether it's dancing or sports. Moreover, the kid grew up listening to the cool experiences of his father side-by-side, learning ice hockey.

Sadly, he had to take a break from hockey for 18 months when he was 13. The teen went through back surgery. In 2017, Brian started working as an account executive at Goosehead Insurance.

He chose Miami University after completing his studies at Clarence Senior High School. At the university, he met his love.

Brian is in a relationship with his college sweetheart, named Meghan Shae. Meghan is a dentist by profession.

Lindy Ruff Brother

Lindy Ruff brother are Marty, Randy, and Brent Ruff. Lindy is the second eldest among the four.

Randy, born on January 31, 1959, played in the junior ice hockey league. He played as a left winger with the Lethbridge Broncos starting in the 1976-1977 season. He bid goodbye to playing ice hockey in 1980.

In 1983, the former player became the assistant coach of the same team, in the WHL.

Likewise, Marty Ruff started playing major junior hockey in 1979. Within seven years, he served as a defenseman for minor professional hockey teams like the Broncos, Montana Magic, Peoria Rivermen, and a few others.

In the NHL 1981 Entry Draft, the St. Louis Blues picked him in the first round. Nonetheless, he never participated in the NHL.

Another sibling Brent Ruff used to play for the Swift Current Broncos, a junior ice hockey team of the WHL (Western Hockey League).

On December 30, 1986, Brent passed away along with three fellow players in a bus accident. That day, the team was leading to a game in Regina.

In memory of the fallen players, the WHL introduced the "Four Broncos Memorial Trophy. Every year, the league grants the trophy to the player of the year.

Coaching Style And Career

Ruff follows a traditional practice, game planning, video work, and witnessing his team excel in big moments. Ruth's coaching career started in the 1993-1994 season.

In the initial phase, he was the assistant mentor of the Panthers. Following that, he was hired as the 15th head coach of the Sabres In 1997.

Before joining his current team, Ruff shortly coached the Dallas Stars and assistant coached the Rangers. He became the 19th head coach of the team in July 2020.

Ruff's contract with the Devils is expiring on June 30. Yet, the general manager, Tom Fitzgerald, has already announced a re-dealing with the coach for the 2023-2024 season.
