Patrice Bergeron

Patrice was announced as the captain of the Boston Bruins on 7 January 2021. He served as an alternate captain for the team from 2006-07 season.

The position was formerly held by Zdeno Chara from 2006 to 2021. After holding the position for 14 years, he left the team to join the Washington Capitals.

Bergeron is a draft pick by the Boston Bruins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected in the second round with 45 overall and became NHL regular straight away after being drafted.

His honors include 5 of the Frank J. Selke Trophy, 1 King Clancy Trophy in 2013, NHL Foundation Player Award in 2014. He was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2012. 

The Quebec native has played in Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He also played for the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

Patrice and his wife Stephanie Bertrand have been married since 2013. They have three kids, one daughter Victoria Bergeron and two sons Zack Bergeron and Noah Bergeron.

Alternate Captain

David Krejci was announced as an alternate captain in the 2022-23 season, and Brad Marchand was announced the title in the 2020-21 season.

David plays as an ice hockey left winger for the Boston Bruins. He has played in tournaments with the Czech national team, including the Winter Olympics.

The athlete had the title since 2013 and played for seven seasons. In his ongoing tenure, he has been Stanley Cup finalist twice and has been an Elizabeth C. Dufresne Trophy winner (2013-14).

Krejci was picked a year later than Bergeron. The Boston Bruins drafted him in the third round, 63rd overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

David left the Bruins during seasonal games in July 2021 to return to the Czech Republic. He joined HC Olomouc for one year and returned to the Bruins for the 16th season in a 1-year contract in August 2022.

Brad Marchand

Brad was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in the third round, 71st overall

The Nova Scotia native has played with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He was honored as the team's Rookie of the Year in his draft year.

Marchand won Eddie Shore Award twice in 2014 and 2021. His international honors include the World Cup of Hockey Gold Medal, IIHF World Championship Gold Medal and the World U-17 Hockey Challenge Bronze Medal.

His name comes with some series of fines, suspension, and rule-breaking behavior tags. He received suspensions during the 2017–18 NHL season and 2018–19 NHL season and has continued in the following seasons.

Brad got married to Katrina Sloane in September 2015. The couple has two daughters Sawyer and Rue and a stepson.

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney joined the NHL franchise in his eighth season.

Jim Montgomery

Jim serves as the head coach of the Boston Bruins on 30 June 2022. The same day his contract with St. Louis Blues expired, and he replaced Bruce Cassidy.

Since he joined the team, he has led the team to the winningest season in the franchise's NHL history and the President's Trophy.

He was named a 2023 Jack Adams Award finalist alongside Dave Hakstol (Seattle Kraken) and Lindy Ruff (New Jersey Devils). Dave won the title.

Montgomery served for another NHL team the Dallas Stars. He was hired in the coach position in May 2018 and fired shortly after December 2019 for unprofessional conduct.Then, the St. Louis Blues hired him as an assistant under head coach Craig Berube.

He has also worked with the United States Hockey League's Dubuque Fighting Saints for three seasons. He held the position at the University of Denver as well.

Jim played in NHL from 1993 to 2003 in 122 NHL games. He played for Montreal Canadiens, the Blues, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, and San Jose Sharks.

Don Sweeney

The Boston Bruins hired Don Sweeney as General Manager on 20 May 2015 on a multi-year contract extension. He replaced Peter Chiarelli.

The New Brunswick native traded Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames in exchange for the Draft's 15th overall pick and two second-round draft picks as his first move.

He played four seasons of college hockey at Harvard University and earned ECAC First Team All-Star and NCAA East All-American awards. In 1997, he played for Team Canada in World Championships Pool A.

Sweeney also played in NHL for 16 seasons as a defenseman for the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars. He played 1115 games with 273 points and 221 assists.

The former player led the team to win the Eastern Conference Finals and secured a berth at the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals against the St. Louis Blues in the 2018 - 19 seasons. After the game, he was named the NHL General Manager of the Year Award at the NHL Awards Ceremony.

Don is married to former figure skater Christine Hough. The couple has twin sons, Jarrod and Tyler.
