Where does Carolina Hurricanes play? The Carolina Hurricanes plays at PNC Arena located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Carolina Hurricanes joined NHL in 1972 as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. They have only won one Stanley Cup in their rack in the 2005-06 season.

The arena was opened on 29 October 1999 as ESA (Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena). The Hurricanes hosted a game with the New Jersey Devils on the opening night.

Where Is The Carolina Hurricanes Stadium Located?

The Carolina Hurricanes stadium is located at 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607. PNC Arena was formerly called RBC Arena.

It is near the North Carolina State Fairgrounds and North Carolina State University campus. The stadium is owned by Centennial Authority. They own the arena building and the surrounding 80 acres.

Several restaurants are available near the arena, including The Players Retreat, The Cowfish, Gonza Tacos y Tequila and Backyard Bistro.

The indoor arena can be reached through the east-west transcontinental Interstate Highway, Wade Avenue, and Raleigh Beltline. While traveling to the stadium, spectators can listen to 1630 AM PNC Arena Traffic Radio for all traffic jam alerts and flow changes.

The Hurricanes hosted the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2009 and 2019 playoffs. The NHL franchise even hosted a draft party on the club level in the Arena Club Restaurant, Club Ledge bar.

The most attended game at the stadium was held on 14 May 2022 in a match against Boston Bruins. It had 19,513 attendees.

Carolina Hurricanes Home Arena and Parking Pass

Carolina Hurricanes home arena PNC Arena is also home to North Carolina State University. The hurricanes relocated to Raleigh from Hartford Connecticut in 1997.

RBC Center was renamed after the Royal Bank of Canada acquired the naming right in 2002. The stadium was renamed PNC Arena after PNC Financial Services purchased the rights in 2012.

It is not a home for the Hurricanes only; they also host NC State Wolfpack basketball games, Professional Bull Riders events, WWE Live events, and concerts.

Parking Pass

Carolina Hurricanes parking pass is available on ParkWhiz. The parking lots can be entered from I-40 or Wade Avenue and depart from Edwards Mill Road.

The arena has over 8,000 parking spaces available. The fees may vary depending on the kind of event which is $20 per vehicle for the Hurricanes games.

It has accessible parking spaces for specially disabled people, buses, and long vehicles.

The VIP parking lot can be accessed from South to Trinity Road at Gate D. If you are entering from Blue Ridge Road then turn onto Westchase Blvd and enter Gate F.

What City Are The Carolina Hurricanes In?

The Carolina Hurricanes are in Raleigh city. It is the capital city of North Carolina and was named after Sir Walter Raleigh.

The vibrant city is best known for education, technical innovation, and research. The town suffered significant damage from Hurricane Hazel in 1954.

The Hurricanes joined the NHL as the New England Whalers before relocating to Raleigh in 1997. The former team could not negotiate construction and lease packages for a new arena in Hartford.

They dropped the team colors blue, green, and silver for a matching color combination with the North Carolina State University Wolfpack.

The closest airport to the stadium is a 10-15 minute drive from Raleigh-Durham International Airport. 

PNC Arena Bag Policy

PNC Arena Bag policy allows the guests to carry smaller than 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches bags. The bags have to be entered only through the bag X-ray line.

The rules and regulations vary with the sort of events. It is the same for the Hurricanes and NC State games but not for other events and concerts.

The following policies are permitted for Carolina Hurricanes & NC State games:

  • One can carry only 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches small clutches and wristlet bags.
  • Parenting bags with breast pumps and Diaper bags accompanied by a child are allowed after an X-ray line screening.
  • Medical bags are allowed with prescribed necessary medicines in them.

In 2020, NC State partnered with Support U.S. Armed Forces to collect paper items for a donation drive. The guests were requested to bring paper goods including toilet paper, paper plates, facial tissue, paper towels, trash bags, and zip-loc bags before entering PNC Arena.

PNC Arena Capacity and Photos

PNC Arena capacity is 18,680 spectators for hockey games. They have 7 lodge boxes, 51 suites, 20 permanent concession stands, over 50 portable concession stands, and 37 public restrooms.

The stadium has a 700,000 square feet (65,000 square meters) area. It has a larger capacity for basketball games with 19,500 seating.

It has a seating capacity of up to 20,000 for events and concerts. They have a 9,100-square-foot restaurant on the Club Level.

PNC arena rink size is 200 feet long by 85 feet wide. It is different from the regular Olympic Hockey Rink size.

In 2020, the arena was allowed to increase the capacity of more than 15,000 guests for home games in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They installed a 500-ton chiller with a locally-based Gregory Poole Equipment Company for better air conditioning.

PNC Arena Seating Chart and Maps

The PNC Arena seating chart has three levels: lower, Club, and upper. PNC Arena seat map has 237 sections divided from 101 to 338.

The seating chart has two entrances from east and west. Four seating levels are accommodated with a seating capacity of up to 20,000. The stadium has Loge boxes and Luxury Suites.

Lower Level

It has sections from 101 to 130 in A through W rows. Spectators with tickets for rows A and B have access to the Buffalo Brothers Zone, Ledge Lounge, and the Arena Club Restaurant.

The Hurricane's bench is in front of section 105, while the competing team gets a bench in front of section 103. The penalty box is seated in front of section 119.

Club Level

This level consists of sections from 201 to 230 in A through D rows. They have comfortable seats with legroom and In-seat waiter service.

They can access a private bar, lounge area, HD TVs, sandwiches, and 2 drink vouchers. They can go to the Champions Club Bar and get a complimentary parking pass.

Club Ledge: It has sections from 226 to 228 and is one of the most affordable premium seats. The sub-level is situated in the Hurricane double attack zone.

Champions Club: It has sections from 210 through 214. It is situated in the visiting team’s double attack zone. They can access HD TVs, a lounge area, and all-inclusive food and drinks. 

Upper Level

This level includes sections 301 through 338. It has rows starting from A and never goes beyond the P row.

They also offer unobstructed sightlines and are referred to as Terrace. They have the cheaper price tags for a Hurricanes game.
