NHL Prospect Tournament Schedule is from September 14-17. The tournament will be hosted by the Detroit Red Wings at Traverse City.

The Red Wings will be hosting the Blue Jackets, Stars, and Maple Leafs in the round-robin style tournament with 3 games played by each team.

Other prospect tournaments featuring different teams are also taking place before the official the NHL teams begin their official training camp.

Several Calder Trophy candidates Connor Bedard, Logan Cooley, Adam Fantilli, Luke Hughes, and many others will be playing in these matches.

It will provide an impetus for these rookies to perform well, make an impression, and get ready for that training camp ahead of the new season.

The Prospects Challenge is set to take place from September 15-18 with Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, and the Boston Bruins set to participate.

Traverse City Prospects Tournament 2023

Prospect Tournament Traverses City will be hosted by the Red Wings. It will be the 24th season of the tournament being held in Traverse City.

The Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, and Toronto Maple Leafs will be joining the Red Wings in the round-robin style tournament held at the Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Michigan.

For those wondering how to watch Traverse City tournament, the games will be streamed live on the social media accounts / YouTube channels of the respective teams. The Centre Ice Arena has also made streaming links for the Tournament available on its website.

Many future NHL stars are set to partake in the prospect contests held this September with The Traverse City Tournament being one of them.

Adam Fantilli, the Hobey Baker Award Winner, was the No. 3 pick in the 2023 NHL draft selected by the Blue Jackets. Fantilli has played for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2023 IIHF World Championships.

Marco Kasper of the Detroit Red Wings is ready to show all that he's got after being forced to be sidelined following a season-ending injury. 

Matthew Knies played for the University of  Minnesota prior to joining the Maple Leafs and played 3 regular season games for them last season recording one assist. He also played 7 playoff games for the Leafs scoring 1 goal and recording 3 assists earning him 4 points.

Sabres Prospects Challenge 2023

The Sabres Prospect Challenge 2023 is scheduled to take place from September 15 - 18 at the LECOM Harbor Center in Buffalo, New York.

Buffalo Sabres will be extending an invitation for the tournament to the Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens for the second consecutive year.

The New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins have been joining the Sabres in the Prospects challenge since its inception in 2015. Each team will play 3 games in the tournament.

Simon Nemec drafted 4th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2021, and fellow defenseman Luke Hughes are players of note for the franchise. 

Nemec, a player with high hockey IQ had 12 goals and 22 assists in 65 games with Utica Comets, AHL affialates of the New Jersey Devils.

David Reinbacher is the player to watch on the Montreal Canadiens roster. He was the No. 5 pick in the 2023 draft and attended the Canadiens development camp in July.

Ice hockey center Brayden Yager, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2023 draft was the first pick of the new Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas.

Young Stars Classic 2023

The 2023 Young Stars Classic 2023 will be held from September 15 to 18 at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, British Columbia.

The tournament will be played in a round-robin format.  The Young Star Classic held this year will be the 10th tournament held at the SOEC attended by the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets. 

Some of the prospects to look out for the Canucks are Hunter Brzustewicz, Josh Bloom, and Braeden Bowman. Colby Barlow, Brad Lambert, and Thomas Milic are Winnipeg Jets prospects of note.

Xavier Bourgault and Matvey Petrov are the Oilers' promising prospects. Matt Coronato and Samuel Honzek are the Flames players to look out for in the tournament.

Colby Barlow of the Winnipeg Jets scored 46 goals and had 33 assists in 59 games last season with the Owen Sound of the OHL. He also scored 3 goals in 4 playoff games for the OHL team.

Barlow played for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Championship where he scored 4 points in six games. Canada won the bronze at the championship.

Xavier Bourgault played 62 games for the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL where scored 13 goals and got 21 assists. Bourgault is expected to play for another season for the Condors barring any injuries in the Oilers roster. 

Matt Coronota was the number 13 pick in the 2021 NHL entry draft. The Calgary Flames are looking to start Coronato in the AHL with their affiliate team the Calgary Wranglers.

Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase 2023

Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase 2023 is slated from September 15 -17. The tournament will be held at the TRIA Rink at Treasure Island Center.

Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues will be participating in the tournament hosted by Minnesota Wild. All the teams will play 2 games each.

The No.1 pick of the 2023 NHL entry draft, Connor Bedard will certainly be the highlight of the tournament. After all, he is a generational talent.

The former Regina Pats forward is speculated to be making his NHL debut in the game against the Penguins on October 10. Bedard scored 134 goals in 134 regular season games played during his 3 seasons with the Pats.

In his last season with the Pats, Connor scored 71 goals and got 72 assists in 57 regular season games. He was awarded the Bob Clarke Trophy, Four Broncos Memorial Trophy CHL Player of the Year, CHL Top Draft Prospect Award, and the CHL Top Scorer Award all in 2023.

Likewise, top prospects from other teams include the St. Louis Blues forward Zachary Boulduc and Minnesota Wild goaltender Jesper Wallstedt.

Zachary Bouldec played for the Quebec Ramparts last season, ultimately leading the Ramparts to become the 2023 Memorial Champions. 

Jesper Wallsted was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NHL entry draft. Wallsted played for the Iowa Wild of the AHL last season, with a save percentage of 0.908 and a 2.68 goals-against average.

NHL Rookie Faceoff 2023

The 2023 NHL Rookie Faceoff will be hosted by the Vegas Golden Knights from September 15 to 18 across two venues in Nevada.

Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, LA Kings, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, and Arizona Coyotes will participate in the tournament.

The teams will be playing 3 games each in the 4-day tournament scheduled to take place at the City National Arena and Dollar Loan Center.

It will be the second time the Golden Knights will host the Rookie Faceoff 2023 presented by Martin Harris Construction. The Knights previously hosted the tournament back in 2018.

Some players of note in the tournament are Leo Carlsson, Logan Cooley, and Shakir Mukhamadullin. Carlson was the Player of the Year in the Swedish Junior League last season.

Likewise, Logan Cooley was the finalist for the Honey Baker Award last season with 22 goals and 38 assists in 39 games in his freshman year.

Cooley also played for the United States at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship. He ranked second in the scoring chart behind Connor Bedard with seven goals and seven assists in seven games.

Southeast Rookie Showcase 2023

Florida Panthers will host the 2023 Southeast Rookie Showcase from September 15-18. The tournament will take place at the Hertz Arena.

Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators will be participating in the tournament held across 3 days with 2 games played on the 15th, 16th, and 18th of September.

Hertz Arena is home to the Florida Everblades, the ECHL affiliates of the Panthers. The four participating teams will be playing 2 games each.

Some prospects participating in the tournament to be on the lookout for are Joakim Kemmel, Mackie Samoskevich, and Jack Thompson. They all have very good chances of making the team roster next season.

Nashville Predators drafted Joakim Kemmel in the 2022 NHL entry draft as the No. 17 pick. Kemmel registered six goals and seven assists in 14 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. 

Mackie Samoskevich, the Florida Panthers prospect played for the Charlotte Checkers last season earning them 4 points in seven playoff games at the Calder Cup. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Panthers on May 9, 2023.

Jack Thompson, played for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL last season recording 8 goals and 15 assists in 71 games last season. The 21-year-old defenseman has the chance to show his abilities for a shot at making the Lightning roster next season
