Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach
Jon Cooper serves as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He recently steered the team to two consecutive playoff victories.
Cooper made his coaching debut at Lansing Catholic High School. He started playing ice hockey at his high school in Notre Dame. He then studied BBA at Hofstra University where he was on their lacrosse team as well.
During Jon's time at the university, he played club hockey for a year. He graduated with a JD from the Thomas M. Colley Law School and practiced it for five years.
Cooper started coaching ice hockey in the 1999-2000 season. He directed the team to their first regional hockey championship in 2.5 decades.
The trainer then got associated with the Capital Centre Pride of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) followed by Metro Jets of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL).
After training the player at minor and junior hockey leagues, Jon was named the leading mentor of the team in 2013. At just 55 years, he is one of the most accomplished trainers.
Jon Cooper salary is estimated to be $5 million a year. He signed a three-year extension contract with the Lightning franchise in 2021.
