How Many Canadian Players On The St Louis Blues? The St Louis Blues have 10 Canadian players on their 2023 roster.

The NHL franchise was founded in 1967 as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference. The team was added to the NHL in the 1967 expansion and was named after the W. C. Handy song Saint Louis Blues.

The Blues have made four appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals including one victory in 2019. They have played for 55 seasons from 1967-68 to 2022-23.

Kyle now plays home games with Tampa Bay Lighting and had spent the 2021/22 NHL season as their emergency goalie before playing for the Blues.

St Louis Blues Captain and Alternates

St Louis Blues captain and alternative are Colton Parayko and Brayden Schenn. Former team captain Ryan O'Reilly left the team to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He traded with Noel Acciari to the Leafs in a three-team trade involving the Minnesota Wild. Ryan served for three seasons as captain of the team.

The Ontario native was a draft pick by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected in the 2nd round, 33rd overall.

Ryan replaced Alex Pietrangelo who held the position for four seasons. He left the team to join the Vegas Golden Knights in October 2020.

Possible candidates for the vacant captaincy position are Brayden Schenn, Colton Parayko, Justin Faulk, and Robert Thomas.

The defenseman became the first in St. Louis Blues history to score in a Game 7 match against the Blackhawks.

The Canadian of Ukrainian descent has served in the same position during college years for the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the NCAA Men's Division I Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) beginning in the 2012–2013 season.

Colton grew up alongside three siblings, Kendra, Bryce, and Kennedy in St. Albert, Alberta. Bryce is into motocross dirt bike racing.

Brayden Schenn

Brayden was traded by the Flyers to the St Louis Blues in exchange for Jori Lehtera in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

The Saskatchewan native was selected by the Los Angeles Kings fifth overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has also played with the Philadelphia Flyers for 6 seasons.

In 2019, the Blues won their first-ever Stanley Cup in a match against the Boston Bruins. He set a record of 5 goals and 12 points for the season.

The team signed an 8-year contract worth $52 million with Brayden. The contract includes $52,000,000 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $6,500,000.

Schenn was the inaugural winner of the 2007–08 Boston Pizza WHL 'Fan's Choice' Award. He was also nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

Brayden got married to Kelsey Soehn in July 2022. Their wedding was delayed to Covid-19.

St Louis Blues Coach and General Manager

St Louis Blues coach is Craig Berube. St Louis Blues general manager has been Doug Armstrong since July 2010.

Their assistant coach is Steve Ott, and their goaltending coach is David Alexander. Steve joined the club during the 2013-14 season and David during the 2017-18 season.

Craig Berube

Craig was named assistant head coach of the St. Louis Blues on 15 June 2017. The following year led the team to the franchise's first Stanley Cup.

Berube started coaching in 2006 with the Philadelphia Phantoms. Ten years later, he was announced the head coach of the AHL club Chicago Wolves.

He played with Medicine Hat Tigers, Kamloops Blazers, and New Westminster Bruin in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He played over 1000 games.

In NHL also, he contributed 17 seasons with five clubs including Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders, and Washington Capitals.

Craig and his former wife Rebecca Bricker Berube have three kids, Jake, Nashota and Charlotte Berube. His new wife is Dominique Pino.

Doug Armstrong

Doug was appointed the first Blues GM on 1 July 2013. He joined the club five years earlier as director of player personnel on a 2-year contract.

The head coach served as the GM for the Dallas Stars for 17 years with the Dallas Stars organization and his final six seasons. Former Stars player Brett Hull and assistant GM Les Jackson replaced him.

He has worked with Hockey Canada's management group for the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics and 2007 and 2016 Gold Medal World Championship Teams.

The Ontario native is on the noteworthy professional sports team executives list by Marquis Who's Who.

Under his guidance, the Blues have won three Central Division Regular Season titles, made 10 Stanley Cup appearances, and won one in 2019.

Doug and his wife Kelly Armstrong have two children, Blake and Kayla. He is the son of NHL Hall of Fame linesman Neil Armstrong.
