Seattle Hockey Ownership Group includes 1. David Bonderman 2. Samantha Holloway 3. Tod Leiweke 4. Jerry Bruckheimer and others.

Seattle Kraken is the 32nd team in the NHL who started playing in the league in the 2021-22 season. The Kraken plays at Climate Pledge Arena.

Bonderman and others paid $650 million as an expansion fee for the franchise. The Kraken's team name and logo were revealed in July 2020. 

Currently, the Kraken franchise has a net worth of $1.05 billion. Tod Leiwekeis is the CEO of the Kraken franchise. He previously worked as a CEO and COO for other sports teams.

Ron Francis is the General Manager of the team. He is joined by assistant managers Ricky Olczyk, Jason Botterill, and Alexandra Mandrycky.

Likewise, the Kraken coaching panel comprises head coach Dave Hakstol and assistant coaches Jay Leach, Dave Lawry, and Paul McFarland.

Who Owns Seattle Kraken?

Seattle Kraken owners are David Bonderman and his daughter Samantha Holloway. Jerry Bruckheimer and Tod Leiweke are the co-owners.

Seattle hockey team ownership is housed under Seattle Hockey Partners, which is a private organization. The ownership percentages for the franchise are not public yet.

There were rumors that David Bonderman, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tod Leiweke as equal partners when The Kraken was announced as an NHL expansion.  However, Bonderman was cited to hold the majority of the ownership from the team's press release.

Other notable minority owners of the franchise comprise Christopher Ackerly, Ted Ackerly, Adrian Hanauer, Andy Jassy and Marshawn Lynch.

The Kraken is the latest NHL franchise team. The Seattle Kraken officially joined the NHL on April 30, 2021, after they made the final payment of their expansion fee.

Gary Bettman, the NHL Commissioner said, "On behalf of the Board of Governors, I am delighted to officially welcome the Seattle Kraken to the NHL as our 32nd member club."

The Seattle Kraken played their very first NHL match against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 12, 2021, which ended in a 4-3 loss.

David Bonderman

David Bonderman is the primary owner of Seattle Kraken. The American billionaire businessman is also the founder of the NHL franchise.

Bonderman net worth was estimated at $6.5 billion by Forbes on March 2023. It is a significant rise from 2018 as his fortune was estimated to be $2.6 billion.

Bonderman is co-founder of the Texas Partners Group (TPG) since 1992, which is a private equity firm. TPG is one of the largest private equity groups in the world with more than $135 billion in assets under management.

David is also a minority owner of the NBA's Boston Celtics. Bonderman is one of the founding partners of TPG Capital and its Asian affiliate, Newbridge Capital. He became one of the investors of T-Mobile Arena in 2008.

Bonderman attended the University of Washington and Harvard Law School. He served at Tulane University Law School as an assistant professor between 1967 and 1968. Then he became a special assistant to the United States Attorney General in 1968 and 1969.

The business tycoon was the director of several companies including Continental Airlines, Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., Bowe Bell & Howell, Credicom Asia, the National Education Corp., Beringer Wine Estates, and more.

David is a board member of the World Wide Fund for Nature, The University of Washington Foundation,  The Wilderness Society, the Grand Canyon Trust, and so on.

The businessman is married to Dr. Laurie Michaels. The power couple has five children and they reside in Fort Worth, Texas.

Samantha Holloway

Samantha Holloway boasts the equal share of the Kraken as her father David Bonderman. However, the ownership percentage is not public yet.

“My father has been hugely successful, and I respect him immensely, and there’s a tremendous amount to learn from him,” Samantha said in an interview about her new top-ranking Kraken role.

Holloway served as chair of Kraken’s Executive Committee prior to becoming the third woman to attain principal team owner status in the NHL.

Samantha was co-owner of DS Additions from 2007 to 2010, which is a women’s boutique in Denver. Her business history also includes a tech company GoSpotCheck from 2011 to 2021, of which she was a founder and served as the CCO as well.

She's the co-founder of an investment firm, 2nd & Filmore, and a software startup Hat Labs. Holloway got her degree of BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan.

She attended the University of Denver in 2005 to pursue MA in Forensic Psychology. She did MBA in Marketing from the same University in 2012.

Following the Kraken expansion, Samantha talked about the new brand being extremely significant to the city and emphasized growing the brand and the number of hockey enthusiasts in Seattle.

Tod Leiweke

Tod Leiwekeisis is another vital member of the Seattle Kraken ownership group. His share in the Kraken franchise has not been disclosed yet.

The American sports executive has an approximate net worth of $5 million. Leiwekeisis is the Chief Executive Officer and the president of the Kraken franchise, besides being a minority owner.

Leiweke served as vice president for the New York Arrows indoor soccer team during the early 1980s. He was selected as team president of the Houston Rockets in 1993. He resigned from the Rockets to work for the Golden State Warriors in 1994.

Tod was CEO of the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. Furthermore, he also served Vulcan Sports and Entertainment in the same position. He also worked for the Minnesota Wild as the president.

Leiweke became the CEO and a minority owner of Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment in 2010. He joined NFL as Chief Operating Officer in 2015.

Jerry Bruckheimer

Jerry Bruckheimer Seattle Kraken story dates back to the franchise's inception. The famous Hollywood producer also has a stake in the Kraken.

Bruckheimer's estimated net worth is $1.3 billion as of 2023. The American billionaire makes most of his money from the movie business.

Jerry wanted to be a professional sportsman before becoming one of the most successful TV and film producers. However, the producer of the blockbuster "Pirates of The Caribbean" became co-owner of the NHL franchise.

Bruckheimer played hockey when he was a little kid and again started playing when he got to California. In fact, he always dreamt about being part of professional sports.

Jerry attended Mumford High School. He graduated in Psychology from the University of Arizona. He started producing films in the 1970s.

He has also produced many TV series. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, CSI: Cyber, Without a Trace, and Cold Case are some of his hit TV series.

The Godfather (1972), Good Will Hunting (1997), The 400 Blows (1959), and The French Connection (1971) are his personal favorite films.

Bonnie Fishman Bruckheimer is his first wife. Bruckheimer lives in LA with his second wife Linda Cobb. He also has a stepdaughter, Alexandra.
