Philadelphia Flyers assistant coaches are Rocky Thompson, Darryl Williams, and Brad Shaw. John Tortorella leads the Flyers coaching panel.

Kim Dillabaugh serves as the goaltending coach for the team. He previously served the LA Kings in a goalie development role for 8 seasons.

The position of Skills Coach for the team is assigned to Angelo Ricci. He served long the Colorado Thunderbirds AAA Hockey Association in Morrison, CO in the past as the Director of Hockey Operations.

Adam Patterson has been working as the video coach of the franchise since 2009. Before that, he was serving the team as a video coordinator.

Vinny Yula (Vincent) is currently working for the Flyers as an assistant video coach. Yula spent several years with the team assisting Patterson.

Ian Laperriere is the head coach for the franchise's AHL team, Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Laperriere is also a former player of the Flyers, who also played with the LA Kings, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, and Colorado Avalanche during his NHL career.

Philadelphia Flyers Head Coach

John Tortorella is the current head coach of Philadelphia Flyers. The veteran coach was appointed by the Flyers management on June 17, 2022.

Prior to his service with the Flyers, Tortorella worked as the coaching head for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, NY Rangers, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Most recently, he coached the Blue Jackets for 6 seasons. His coaching career began with the Rochester Americans of the AHL and the Virginia Lancers of ECHL. 

The Tampa Bay Lightning became the Stanley Cup Champion for the first time in 2004 under his tutelage. Tortorella holds the record of the first American coach in the NHL to reach the milestone of 500 wins.

He has been awarded the Jack Adams Award twice as the NHL’s top coach. He has been named as a finalist for the award during four seasons.

"I am very excited to be joining such a historic and well-respected franchise like the Philadelphia Flyers," said Tortorella after the team selected him as the new coach. 

John became the 23rd head coach in the team's history. Having completed 20 seasons as a head coach in the NHL, he stands second all-time among American coaches with 673 wins. 

The NHL 2021-22 season was a bit different for Tortorella. The coach spent the season joining as an analyst for the ESPN broadcasting team. 

Tortorella was assigned as the head coach of the USA Hockey Team at the 2008 IIHF World Championships and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Furthermore, John also served the 2010 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team, which won a silver medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Philadelphia Flyers Coaching Staff

The Flyers coaching staff comprises of:

Brad Shaw

Brad Shaw joined the Philadelphia Flyers NHL franchise as an associate coach in July 2022, re-uniting with the head coach John Tortorella. 

Shaw has previously served the Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

He also worked for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. Brad became head coach of the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks for the 2002-03 season. 

His NHL playing career began with the Ottawa Senators during their inaugural season in 1992–93. He was selected as an alternate captain of the team and appeared in 81 games. Shaw recorded seven goals and 41 points in his first NHL season.

Rocky Thompson

Thompson joined the Flyers franchise as an assistant coach in July 2022. Rocky served for the San Jose Sharks during the 2020-21 season. 

He was performing the duty of the head coach for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL before he started his tenure with the Sharks NHL franchise.

As a player, the former right winger was selected by the Calgary Flames as the 72nd overall pick in the 3rd round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

His coaching career started with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL in 2007. Later, he became the assistant coach of Oklahoma City Barons.

Darryl Williams

Williams was appointed as an assistant coach for the Flyers in July 2021. He has also served the New York Rangers as an assistant coach. 

Darryl spent four seasons with the Rangers as an assistant coach from 2014-15 to 2017-18. He served the Vancouver Canucks with the same position from 2008-09 to 2013-14. Williams helped lead the Canucks to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final

He has worked as a head and assistant coach for different level teams such as St. John's Fog Devils of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, Long Beach Ice Dogs in the West Coast Hockey League, and others. 

"I'm honored to join the Philadelphia Flyers organization," said Williams after he was named the assistant coach of the Flyers. "I can't wait to get started with such a great staff and an exciting group of players." 

Philadelphia Flyers General Manager

Daniel Briere has been serving the Flyers as a General Manager since May 11, 2023. He has been on the management team since June 2017.

Briere thanked Chuck Fletcher and Dave Scott for their constant support and confidence over the years upon his appointment to the GM role.

As the GM of the team, Daniel will be looking after all aspects of the club's hockey operations such as scouting and player development. He has worked for the team's player development department for seasons.

Briere spent two seasons in the Flyers' front-office business operations. Before he started with an executive position with the Flyers, Briere was working as the President and the Governor of the Maine Mariners of the ECHL.

Furthermore, his playing career in the NHL was also pretty impressive. He was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Besides the Coyotes and Flyers, he also played for the Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and Colorado Avalanche during his playing career.

On top of that, Briere is one of the top Stanley Cup playoff performers in NHL history with a record of 116 points in 124 career playoff games.
