Ottawa Senators Goalie

Ottawa Senators Goalie are Cam Talbot (#33) and Anton Forsberg (#31). Talbot is a Canadian Goalie exchanged by Minnesota Wild for Filip Gustavsson in 2022.

Anton Forsberg was injured due to a collision in a game against Edmonton Oilers in February 2023. He suffered a Medial Collateral Ligament injury in both knees and couldn't continue in the season.

Calm Talbot also suffered from a minor injury in the early year. Senators called Mads Sogaard, Kevin Mandolese, and Dylan Ferguson from its minor affiliates as a goalie for this season.

Leevi Merilainen and Magnus Hellberg also spent some time on the ice for the Senators during the 2022-23 season.

Emergency Goalie

Emergency Goalies for the Ottawa Senators are Scott Foster, Artem Anisimov, and Robbin Billingham.

Foster was first signed by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018. He stopped the shots of the Winnipeg Jets. Due to Forsberg's injury, Foster had to stay on standby as an EBUG, also for the Ottawa Senators.

Anisimov has played 770 NHL games as a forward, but he was seen in the Sens' locker room fully dressed in goalie equipment in 2021.

Robin Billingham attended as the emergency backup goalie at Canada Tire Center in the game between the New Jersey Devils and the Ottawa Senators.

Ottawa Senators Captain is Brady Tkachuk, while the alternate captains are Thomas Chabot and Claude Giroux. The Senators announced Tkachuk to become the 10th player to wear "C" on his jersey on 5 November.

Before Tkachuk, Erik Karlsson was the captain who served between the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons and then traded to San Jose Sharks during the offseason.

Brady Tkachuk

Brady Tkachuk was drafted fourth overall by the Senators in the 2018 NHL Entry draft. He entered the league with 45 points in the 2018-19 season.

Tkachuk's father, Keith Tkachuk, has served the Winnipeg Jets and Phoenix Coyotes. And his brother Mathew Tkachuk, the finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy, is also expected to take over the Calgary Flames as the captain.

Brady signed a 7-year contract for $57,500,000 with the Ottawa Senators and is expected to reach $10,500,000 in the 2023-24 season.

Thomas Chabot

Thomas Chabot is an ice hockey defenceman, drafted by the Senators as the 18th overall pick. Chabot is in the team as one of the alternate captains since the 2019-20 season.

Before entering NHL, he became the first defenceman to be the MVP of the World Junior Championships. Chabot is in Ottawa Senators' NHL team after playing for its affiliate, Belleville Senators, in the 2017-18 season.

Claude Giroux

Claude Giroux joined Chabot as the alternate captain for the team during the 2022-23 season. He has played for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers before.

Giroux is renowned for his capability of playing comfortably on both center and wings. He became the 96th player to collect 1000 NHL points in the game against Carolina Hurricanes.

Ottawa Senators Coach and General Manager

Ottawa Senators coach is Denis Joseph Smith, popularly known as D.J. Smith. Ottawa Senators general manager is  Pierre Dorion. Dorion is the eighth manager in the franchise's history.

D.J. Smith is a former hockey player and current head coach of the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League. He is the thirteenth coach of the Senators. 

Besides the Sens, he has served as an assistant coach for the World Cup team of Canada.

Smith has played only 45 games in the NHL. But he had played more in other leagues such as GLJCHL, WOHL, WOHL, OHL, and AHL.

After retirement, Denis started his coaching career in the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. He worked there for eight seasons and moved to Oshawa Generals of the same league as the Head Coach.

After spending four years in the Generals, he entered  NHL as the assistant coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and eventually became the Heade Coach of the Senators.

This is Smith's fourth year in the Ottawa Senators.

Pierre Dorion

Pierre Dorion is the general manager of the Ottawa Senators. He has been with the team since 2007.

It took a decade for him to be the GM of the team. He was first hired as the Director of Amateur Scouting and promoted to Dir. of Player Personnel in 2009.

Dorion became the Assistant General Manager during the off-season in 2013-14. and after less than three years, he advanced to GM.

He has been serving as the GM of the franchise's affiliate, Belleville Senators, since 2019.
