NHL Winter Classic 2024 location is set to be at the T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Seattle Kraken will host the Vegas Golden Knights on New Year's Day.
The 2024 event is going to be the 15th edition of the Winter Classic event. It was first celebrated in 2008. Since then, the outdoor event has been taking place regularly on January 1 (Sometimes 2).
It is usually hosted in a baseball or football stadium in a city with a resident NHL team. Also, the event has been contested only in the cities of the United States.
Continuing the tradition of celebrating history, the Kraken and VGK players will wear specially designed jerseys for the event. Adidas is the official creator of the jerseys for the 2024 Winter Classic.
Winter Classic jerseys are available to purchase at adidas.com, adidas.ca, NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, and Fanatics’ network of online stores. The fans can also buy the unique NHL uniforms at Golden Knights and Kraken team stores.
Where is the Winter Classic 2024?
The Winter Classic 2024 will be happening at T-Mobile Park, the home of Seattle Mariners in Washington. It has a seating capacity of 47,929 for baseball and 30,144 for football games.
Construction of the Park began in March 1997 and was opened in July 1999. The property is owned and operated by the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District.
The 2024 Winter Classic will be the first NHL event at T-Mobile. Moreover, the event will be Kraken's first outdoor game. The Golden Knights previously played in the NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe in 2021.
Besides Mariners' games, the Park is also used for amateur baseball events, including the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association high school state championships.
The University of Washington's baseball team, the Washington Huskies also plays one game per season at T-Mobile.
The 2023 Winter Classic was conducted at Fenway Park in Boston. The Boston Bruins hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 14th edition of Winter Classic on January 2.
Highmark Stadium (previously Ralph Wilson Stadium) located in Orchard Park, New York hosted the first NHL Winter Classic event in 2008. The Buffalo Sabres and the Penguins franchise competed in the historic event.
Vegas Golden Knights Winter Classic Jersey
NHL and Adidas have collaboratively unveiled the Winter Classic Jerseys for the Golden Knights on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
A Heritage Gold has replaced the traditional bright gold of the Golden Knights jerseys with an old West attitude. The new uniform is imagined from Vegas' hockey roots.
The vintage white used in the Winter Classic uniform of the Knights represents the working uniforms from the 1900s. Filigree petals and chain accents have been used to the "V" and player names and numbers.
The neckline of the Golden Knights' specially designed jersey sports seven stars. It truly makes sense as January 1 really kind of being their birthday and seventh year in the league.
The right shoulder of the old-school jersey features the 2024 NHL Winter Classic Event Patch. Barber pole socks and a cursive "Vegas" wordmark on the pants are featured on the Knights' entire kit.
For Adidas, creating jerseys for the NHL franchises by looking back at their history was an interesting task.
"It is always a gift to have a real and robust hockey history to pull from," Matty Merrill, Adidas design director said in a release.
Merril further added, "It's also nice not to be hemmed in by real history but instead, make up some of our own. Seattle and Vegas both have strong, rich cultures and are also very different. So, it's kind of a fun design experiment to create a new history that matches the teams culturally."
Seattle Kraken Winter Classic Jersey
Seattle Kraken's Winter Classic Jersey is inspired by Seattle's old hockey team (Seattle Metropolitans), the first team from the United States to win the Stanley Cup in 1917.
The entire sleeves and most parts of the body are adorned with vintage barber pole stripes with Deep Sea Blue, Ice Blue, and Red Alert colors.
A red "S" logo of Seattle is featured on the crest with "KRAKEN" spelled inside removing the tentacles from their original logo. The emblem is outlined with vintage white.
The numbers and crest are designed with a heritage feel.
The back of the unique jersey sports retro-looking numbers that are felt with single-needle top-stitch detailing. The neckline of the Kraken's Winter Classic jersey has "1917" in white with a red background.
With inspiration from the jersey of Seattle's old ice hockey club, fresh concepts have been brought to the new uniform of the Kraken for the Winter Classic event.
Not only the players, the beautifully designed uniforms of Kraken are also being admired by their fans as well.

Competing on equal 4 occasions, the Bruins won it 3 times, while the Blackhawks were defeated in all of them.
The St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, and Washington Capitals have played in 2 Winter Classic events and won each time.
Likewise, the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, and Toronto Maple Leafs have been part of the event once and rocked the match.
In the 2023 Winter Classic event, the Bruins franchise hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at Fenway Park. The Penguins were defeated 1-2 by the Bruins.
The previous year, the visiting team St. Louis Blues had a 6-4 victory over the home team Minnesota Wild at Target Field. The event was originally set for 2021 and was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dallas was the host city of the 2020 Winter Classic and the event took place at Cotton Bowl Stadium. The Stars upset the Nashville Predators with a 2-4 win in front of a crowd of 85,630.
The Bruins and the Blackhawks competed in the 2019 event at Notre Dame Stadium. Boston had a 4-2 win over the home team Chicago.
In 2018, the visitor New York Rangers saddened the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime. The event took place in City Field Stadium in Queens, New York.
The Hawks were lost in the 2017 Winter Classic versus the St. Louis Blues at Busch Stadium.
