Montreal became the first squad to secure the championship 5 times in a row (from 1956 to 1960). Their last victory was in the year 1993 which is 2 decades earlier.

In 2021, the Canadiens got up to the finals of the championship but was defeated by Tampa Bay Lightning with an overall score of 4-1. Montreal was not selected for the 2023 NHL postseason.

Toronto Maple Leafs With 13 Wins

The Canadian team to win the second most trophy is Toronto Maple Leafs. They have gained victory over 13 championships over the decades.

They earned the title for the first time in 1932. They beat New York Rangers with a score of 3-0 and took the trophy to their home country.

From 1947 to 1949, Maple Leafs secured the championship three times in a row. Their last victory was against Montreal Canadiens with a score of 4-2 in 1967.

Maple earned 111 points in the regular season and was selected in the Atlantic Division for the 2023 NHL postseason. The squad has made it up to the second round.

They won over Tampa Bay Lighting in the first round. Hopefully, the squad will win this year's trophy in the finals.

Edmonton Oilers With 5 Championships

Edmonton Oilers is the third Canadian team with the most Stanley Cup wins. The group has received 5 championships so far.

In 1983, they got to the finals with New York Islanders but got defeated. The following year, they became a victor against the Islanders by a 5-2 score.

The Oilers consecutively won five titles from 1984 to 1990. In 2006, the group reached the finals but the championship was won by Carolina Hurricanes.

Vancouver has made up to the finals three times( in 1982, 1994, and 2011). However, every time the group has been defeated by the opponent. Canucks have not been selected for the 2023 championship.

Winnipeg Jets has not reached the finals or won the championship. However, the group acquired three Avco World Trophies before joining the NHL. The Jets lost against the Knights in the first round of the 2023 postseason.

Ottawa Senators has not yet gained victory over the title. They were in the finals in 2007 but they lost against Anaheim Ducks.

The following year Wings reached the finals but did not succeed. The group missed the 2023 playoff since it only earned 80 points in the regular season.

Boston Bruins Has 6 Championships

Boston Bruins have secured 6 championships so far. They beat New York Rangers with a score of 2-0 and secured their first win in the playoff.

Following that, Bruins got titles in 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, and 2011. They gained victory over Vancouver Canucks in 2011 by 4-0 in the game.

Since then, Boston has appeared in the finals of 2013 and 2019. The group got into the 2023 playoff and played the best-of-seven series against Florida Panthers.

Florida gained victory over Bruins with a 4-3 score. Hopefully, the group will be back for the championship in the next postseason.

The American groups that have not secured a win in the NHL postseason are as follows:

2. San Jose Sharks: Sharks were in the finals of the 2016 postseason but they were defeated by Pittsburgh Penguins.
3. Nashville Predators: After reaching the finals in 2017, the group lost the match.
4. Minnesota Wild: Minnesota has never made up to the finals. The group lost against Dallas Stars in the 2023 postseason championship.
5. Arizona Coyotes: Coyotes have not earned a place in the finals of the playoff.
6. Florida Panthers: Panthers once reach the finals in the postseason back in 1996.
