TNT On HBO Max Hockey Broadcast 2023-24

TNT on HBO Max will broadcast 60 regular season games of the 2023-24 NHL season. TNT network will also cover the Stanley Cup playoffs.

If you are an avid hockey fan and have a Warner Bros. Discovery subscription, we have very good news for you. They are coming up with a sports package, branded Bleacher Report (BR) Sports.

The add-on package will broadcast the live games of the major leagues as well as other sports feeds. Thankfully, the customers will be provided the service for free during their promo campaign.

With the inclusion of TNT, TBS, and TruTV on Max, the sports package can be a single solution for the sports enthusiasts of different games.

NHL on HBO Max Deal 2023 Season

Beginning in October, the US customers of Warner Bros. Discovery will be accessing the live NHL games on the Max streaming service.

The package is going to be launched as Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports. “We want to be everywhere sports fans are," the Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Chairman and CEO Luis Silberwasser said in the press release on Tuesday, September 19.

The subscribers will also get to watch the live streaming of NBA, NCAA, and US Soccer games in addition to NHL matches on BR Sports. Both the customers purchasing ad-free and ad-supported plans of the Max can enjoy the service.

As an introductory benefit, the customers will be able to enjoy live sports throughout the promo period for free on Max until Feb 29, 2024.

The subscribers will have to pay $10 per month after the completion of the promo period for the service. The sports package will be available as an add-on for Max subscription plans in the United States.

The 2023-24 NHL regular season is extremely close and this is really an exciting surprise for the subscribers of Warner Bros. Discovery.

BR Sports will be starting with the MLB's National League Division Series on October 7. The NBA opening coverage and 64 additional games throughout the season will be streamed on BR Sports. 

Apart from these major league live matches, different TV sports shows, on-demand videos, and events will be available on the sports package.

NBA and NCAA basketball fans can still enjoy the live games on TNT, TruTV, and TBS. The BR Sports add-on package is going to be a great option for the Max (formerly HBO Max) customers to enjoy a variety of live matches.

How to Watch Hockey on Max?

You can enjoy hockey games on Max on sports channels such as TNT. Moreover, you can also stream the matches on Max apps or Watch TNT.

TNT holds the right to broadcast up to 72 regular games every season and half of the playoff games. The Stanley Cup final games will be also available on TNT in odd-numbered years.

Additionally, TNT also televises the NHL Winter Classic which is being held on New Year's Day every year. Seattle Kraken will host the Vegas Golden Knights for the 2024 NHL Winter Classic.

Moreover, there has been a recent announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery that the Max streaming service will include live sporting events in the company’s cable networks.

All the Max customers can enjoy the free service for several months. When their promo period ends at the end of February 2024, the optional add-on package will cost $10 per month.

Currently, Max's base plan with commercial comes at $10, and the ad-free plan costs $16 a month. If you opt to purchase the optional sports package after February, it will cost you from $20 to $26 per month.

Kenny Albert

Albert is the only play-by-play commentator of all four major professional leagues, NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. He graduated in broadcasting and journalism from New York University in 1990.

Kenny has been working as the lead play-by-play commentator of the NHL games on TNT since 2021. He called Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2014 for NBC.

Moreover, Albert calls the New York Rangers game on the radio. In 2005, he was the play-by-play announcer of the Washington Capitals on TV.

Albert worked on Fox NHL Saturday broadcasts when Fox had the broadcasting contract for the NHL in the 1990s. Prior to Fox, he was in play-by-play for the NHL on NBC.

Brendan Burke

Brendan Burke calls the play-by-play of the NHL games on TNT on the #2 team. He is joined on the panel by Darren Pang and Jennifer Botterill.

Burke also works for MSG Networks, NBC Sports, and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports. He calls the games of the NHL's New York Islanders.

Burke worked as the play-by-play commentator for select games for the NHL's St. Louis Blues on KMOX radio during the NHL 2011-12 season.

In 2016, the New York Islanders selected him as the play-by-play announcer for their games. Burke has been selected to announce the playoff games for the NHL on NBC channels since 2017.

The sportscaster returned to NBC in 2023 as the lead play-by-play commentator for MLB Sunday Leadoff replacing Jason Benetti.

Eddie Olczyk

Olczyk has been working as a lead color commentator on TNT for NHL games since 2021. He also performs color commentary for the Seattle Kraken games on Root Sports Northwest.

After retiring from his playing career in the NHL, Olczyk became the color commentator for the Pittsburgh Penguins games. As a player, he became the Stanley Cup champion in 1994 while he was playing for the New York Rangers.

Just before the NHL 2006-07 season, he was selected as the color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks television broadcasts. Olczyk also became the lead color commentator for NHL on NBC.

Eddie also performed color commentary for each of EA Sports NHL games from NHL 15 to NHL 19 along with Mike Emrick and Ray Ferraro.
