New York Rangers AHL Team for the 2023-24 season is Hartford Wolf Pack. The Rangers were previously affiliated with Binghamton Rangers.

NY Rangers and Wolf Pack affiliation began way back in 1997. The AHL team plays its home matches at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Hartford won their first Calder Cup in 2000, defeating the Rochester Americans in the finals. The Wolf Pack is the only AHL franchise to play every season since the league's inception in 1936.

Other teams such as New Haven Nighthawks, Springfield Indians, Providence Reds, and other teams are affiliated with the Rangers as its major league partner teams.

New York Rangers AHL Affiliate History

NY Rangers' affiliation in AHL started in 1936 with the Philadelphia Ramblers. The Ramblers were a Pennsylvania-based minor league team.

Bryan Hextall from the Philadelphia Ramblers became a four-time NHL all-star and Stanley Cup winner with the Rangers in 1940. The Ramblers' association with the Rangers ended after the 1940-41 season.

New Haven Eagles became the second affiliated AHL team of the Rangers from 1941-1942. The Eagles based in Connecticut were a founding member of the American Hockey League.

The Eagles were renamed the New Haven Ramblers from 1946 to 1950. The franchise reverted to the Eagles again during the 1950-51 season.

The Cincinnati Mohawks were the Rangers minor league team from 1950-52. The Mohawks team finished in the last position in both seasons.

In 1955, the Rangers chose to affiliate with the Providence Reds, named after the breed of chicken known as the Rhode Island Red. Following the alliance, the Reds moved into the newly built Providence Civic Center, which is now called the Amica Mutual Pavilion.

The Springfield Indians became the next affiliated team of the Rangers after the Reds in 1958. Star hockey players such as Charlie Rayner, Earl Seibert,  Cecil Dillon, and Ott Heller played with the Indians prior to NHL.

During the 1959-60 season, the Indians led the league in the regular season for three straight years and won three straight Calder Cups. During the affiliation with the Rangers, the Indians became the most dominant team in the AHL from 1959 - 1962.

Baltimore Clippers were one of the most successful farm teams of the Rangers franchise from 1962-67. The eight former players of the Clippers are inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame.

The Rangers allied with the New Haven Nighthawks from (1977-81 and 1984-87). The Nighthawks became the Calder Cup finalists four times.
