National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) organizes Division III field hockey, a single-elimination tournament every year. The tournament began in 1981. Trenton State became the first champion of the title.

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) has won the title 11 times, winning it for the most time. Middlebury is the 7-times winner of the championship.

Babson College

Babson reached the tournament quarterfinals in the 2022-23 NCAA Divison III field hockey. To reach the milestone, Caroline DiGiovanni scored in the second half twice.

Berit Sharrow added a goal and an assist. On November 12, the Babson field hockey team won over Rochester, 3-1, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at MacDowell Field.

It was the 15th victory in a row for Babson. This advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second consecutive season and the third time in program history.

Johns Hopkins

The runner-up of the NCAA Division III, the Blue Jays were defeated by the champion Middlebury Panthers in overtime. 

Team Hopkins had the first good chance of the game. Olivia Fox passed the ball to Tessa Erickson. When Erickson made a shot, the ball went just wide of the back post. The day was a bit unlucky for the Hopkins as they were missing some great chances to make a goal.

Middlebury College

Middlebury Panthers won its 5th NCAA Championship in a row in thrilling overtime. Amy Griffin scored with only 2:33 remaining in the first OT.

Middlebury got a 1-0 victory over Johns Hopkins with her goal. The Panthers hold the record of the first field hockey team across all three NCAA divisions to clinch five-consecutive titles.

NCAA D3 Field Hockey Championship

NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship 2023 is scheduled for November 17-19 at Jennings Family Stadium - Newport News, VA.

Semifinal Games

The quarterfinal winners battled for the semifinals. Both games were streamed live on NCAA.com. The final result of the semifinals are:

  • Johns Hopkins 1, Williams 0 
  • Middlebury 4, Rowan 0

Hopkins and Middlebury faced off for the title. The championship game was scheduled to take place at Richard Wackar Stadium at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Middlebury sought to win its fifth national title in a straight and extend its already-built dynasty. Johns Hopkins was looking for redemption after finishing runner-up to the same rival in last year's national title game.

Championship Game

The NCAA 2022 Division III field hockey championship took place on Nov. 18-20 at Richard Wackar Stadium in Glassboro, New Jersey

Middlebury knocked off Johns Hopkins 1-0 in the Division III field hockey championship game. It's the fifth time in as many tries that the Panthers were crowned and the seventh title in program history.

D3 Field Hockey Bracket

26 teams compete in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. Twenty teams compete in ten first-round games on campus sites. 

The 10 first-round winners along with the six teams that received a first-round bye compete at four campus sites during 2nd/3rd round play.

Middlebury Field Hockey

The Middlebury Panthers field hockey team took six NCAA Championships home in the years 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.

The Panthers have claimed seven NCAA titles overall in 19 tournament appearances. They have advanced to the championship game 11 times.

Middlebury is the first program to win five national titles in a row. They have been awarded nine NESCAC Championships, taking part in the conference’s title game 14 times.

51 All-Americans are from Middlebury since 1991. The program has accumulated 51 All-American Selections and 71 All-NESCAC Selections.

Katharine DeLorenzo has been serving as the head coach of the team since 2001. Before DeLorenzo, Missy Foote was in the coaching position.

Salisbury Field Hockey

Salisbury has grabbed the most number of Conference Championships winning it 24 times. SU won championships four times in a row in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Salisbury is the winner of five Division III National Championships. It made to 15 Final Four appearances and 37 NCAA Tournament berths. The Sea Gulls boasts 98 All-Americans Selections, among them 49 of them were selected to the first team.
