Junior Grand Prix Figure Skating 2023 ISU Assignments

Junior Grand Prix Figure Skating 2023 will conclude with the final on December 7-10. The JGP Final will take place alongside seniors in Beijing.

In the series, there will be competition in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing categories. Only the top six skaters of each category will be get to compete in the finals.

The International Skating Union (ISU) hosts the figure skating series at both junior and senior levels. The first-ever junior series was held in 1997.

Japanese skaters Shunsuke Nakamura and Hana Yoshida won the gold medal in the men's and women's single discipline respectively in the last year. In the pairs category, the American duo Sophia Baram and Daniel Tioumentsev clinched the title.

The 2023–24 ISU Challenger Series was started in Bergamo, Italy on September 8. It will last till December 10, 2023.

In the Challenger series, a group of international figure skating events of the senior level is held, which is ranked below the ISU Grand Prix.

The best US skaters at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Turkey are:

Kiri Baga

Baga is a two-time gold medalist at the ISU Junior Grand Prix. The former skater was ranked 7th at the  2010 World Junior Championships.

During the 2006-07 season, Baga secured a bronze medal at the regional championship and qualified for the 2007 U.S. Junior Championships.

In her international debut in the 2009-10 ISU Junior Grand Prix, Baga won the short program and secured second position in the free skating.

She won the competition overall and was assigned to the event in Turkey for her second event.

Leah Keiser

The 2012 Junior Grand Prix Turkey gold medalist Keiser was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The former figure skater was placed fourth in the next event in Chemnitz, Germany.

During the 2012-13 JGP final in Sochi, Russia, Keiser ranked sixth and didn't participate in the 2013 U.S. Championships.

At the 2014 U.S. Championships, Leah was placed tenth. She secured a bronze medal in the 2014-15 JGP series.

Jason Brown

A nine-time Grand Prix medalist, Brown won 2 medals at the Four Continents competition in 2018 and 2020.

Jason is also the champion of the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championship. In the World Junior Figure Skating Championship, he won bronze in 2012 and silver in 2013.

Brown was the one of youngest male figure skating Olympic medalists when he won a bronze in the team event at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Yahli Pedersen / Jeffrey Chen

Prominent skating partners Pedersen and Chen won silver medals in the Ice Dancing category at the 2023-24 ISU JGP Turkey.

Previously, Chen used to skate with Katarina Wolfkostin and the duo won the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Championship, as well as the 2021 French JGP Championship.

Pedersen-Chen partnership began in April 2023. They are now training under the tutelage of Charlie White, Tanith White, and Greg Zuerlein.

Olivia Flores / Luke Wang

The pair of Flores and Wang clinched silver in both the 2023 Junior Grand Prix in Turkey and Austria. The pair is currently coaching under Drew Meekins, Natalia Mishkutenok, and Danny O'Shea.

Flores-Wang pair became champion of the 2023 Junior Challenge Cup. However, they finished fourth in the 2023 Junior U.S. Championships.
