  • If a playoff game goes to overtime, an endless number of sudden-death, five-on-five, 20-minute periods are played.

Matchups

The division winner of each conference matches up with the top Wild Card team in the first round.

  • Series 1: Division A Winner Vs. Wild Card
  • Series 2: Second division winner Vs. third division winner

The NHL playoffs are divided into four rounds:

First Round

In the first round 16 teams their rival team within their conference. The top-seeded club competes with another team to advance to the next round.

In this round, the division winner with the most points in each conference competes with the wild card team.

There are 8 teams from the Eastern Conference and 8 from the Western Conference. They are selected based on regular season standings.

Second Round
