Wayne has the highest number of records in the NHL. Gretzky is nicknamed 'The Great One" for his elusive accomplishments in ice hockey.

The 1980s star athlete set 61 exemplary records until the time of his retirement. Until now, many athletes have tried to surpass his record. However, they have just been able to tie.

Wayne Gretzky - 234 Games

Wayne Gretzky is the fastest NHL player to reach 1000 points. He achieved the feat in 424 games with an average of 2.36 points per game.

Gretzky is also the quickest athlete to reach the 500-point mark in NHL history. The former ice hockey center recorded it in a mere 234 games.

The star player remained undrafted throughout his career. However, he held multiple records and came out as a legendary player at the time of his retirement.

Wayne played 1,487 games in the NHL and recorded 894 goals, 1,963 assists, and 2,857 points. Also, he was handed the Hart Memorial Trophy nine times.

In 2012, Gretzky became the first inaugural recipient of the Order of Hockey in Canada. Multiple hockey awards and trophies have been created under his name to honor his contributions.

Wayne coached Arizona Coyotes from 2005-09. As of now, Gretzky handles his restaurant business and acts as a studio analyst for TNT and TBS.

Mario Lemieux - 287 Games

Fastest NHL player to 1000 points has Mario Lemieux in the second position. Lemieux reached the quadruple-point mark in 513th game.

Mario is a former professional center who never played a full season in the NHL. The maximum number of games that he played in a regular season was 79.

The former Canadian player was the swiftest skater despite his large size. He used his strength and athleticism to distract the defensemen using fakes and dekes. 

Lemieux secured 1,723 points in 915 games till his retirement in 2006. He is the recipient of six Art Ross Trophy, four Ted Lindsay Awards, and three Hart Memorial Trophy.

Since 1999, Mario is the part owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite retiring from playing, he is close to the sports. Under his ownership, the team secured Stanley Cup in 2009, 2016, and 2017.

Peter Stastny - 322 Games

Peter Stastny has the record for reaching the swiftest 500-point mark in 322 games. He was a prolific scorer besides Wayne Gretzky in the 1980s.

Moreover, Statsny was the fourth-quickest NHL player to reach 1000 points. Peter the Great achieved the landmark milestone in the 682nd game. 

He retired with 450 goals, 789 assists, and 1,239 points in 977 games. He played for Avalanche (formerly Quebec Nordiques), Devils, and Blues.

Peter holds the 1981 Calder Memorial Trophy as the rookie of the year. Moreover, he was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998.

Statsny currently enjoys his retirement by being involved in a variety of activities. One of his favorite things to do is watch the hockey games of his son Paul Statsny.

Mike Bossy - 349 Games

Fastest NHL player to 500 goals has Mike Bossy in the second rank. He recorded the feat after playing 647 games in the National Hockey League.

Bossy is the fourth-quickest player to reach the 500-pointer. He reached the mark in his 349th game and spent his entire career representing the New York Islanders.

Mike retired from his playing career in 1988 with a record of 1,126 points in 752 games. In his decade-long career, Bossy became the Stanley Cup Champion four times.

The legendary player is the recipient of multiple accolades including the Calder Memorial Trophy, Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, and Conn Smythe Trophy.

Bossy worked as the Vice President of Titan for some time. He also held broadcasting and public speaking roles before he succumbed to lung cancer on 15 April 2022.

Eric Lindros - 352 Games

Eric Lindros reached the landmark of 500 points in the 352nd game and became the fifth fastest hockey player to reach the milestone.

The former center made his debut in 1992 with the Flyers. He remained active for 13 seasons and recorded 865 points throughout his career.

Eric received four Bobby Clarke Trophy as the most valuable player of the Flyers. He was appointed to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016.

Following retirement, Lindros became an ombudsman of the NHLPA. He left the job after 15 months and is since involved in media, charity, and alum events.

Eric's No. 88 jersey was retired by the franchise on 18 January 2018. The honoring event was organized during a pre-game ceremony at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jari Kurri - 356 Games

Fifth fastest hockey player to 1000 points Jari Kurri hails from Finland. He reached the milestone in the 716th game in 2001.

The former winger began his career with the Oilers in 1980. He also played for the LA Kings, Rangers, Ducks, and Avalanche in 17 seasons.

Throughout his career, Kurri acquired 1,398 points with 601 goals and 797 assists. He became the first 500-goal scorer outside the Canadian national team.

Jari is the 1986 NHL goal-scoring leader and 1985 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner. His name was added to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.

Kurri formerly served as the general manager of the Finnish national men's team. As of now, he is the owner and GM of the KHL team, Jokerit.

Bryan Trottier - 362 Games

Bryan Trottier achieved the 500 points milestone during his 362nd game in the league. Trottier played for 18 seasons and recorded 1,425 points.

He secured six Stanley Cups in his playing career with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. Four of them came with the Islanders.

Bryan debuted in 1975 and won the Calder Trophy. Following that, he earned Art Ross, Hart Memorial, Conn Smythe, and King Clancy Trophy.

Trottier got inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 He served as an assistant coach for the Penguins, Avalanche, and Sabres and a brief stint as the head coach of the New York Rangers.

Bryan currently travels across multiple aboriginal communities. He finds joy in teaching the kids about their heritage and tries to instill leadership skills in them.

Sidney Crosby - 369 Games

Sidney Crosby is the eighth quickest athlete to have reached the 500-point mark. He accomplished it during a power play in his 369th game.

Crosby earned the 1500th point of his career in 2023. In doing so, he became the fifteenth player in NHL history to hit that special milestone.

Sidney debuted in the league with the Penguins and is still with the team. So far, he has steered the franchise to three Stanley Cup triumphs.

For his outstanding performances, the franchise captain has been handed multiple accolades. Until now, he has played 1,190 games and scored 550 goals and 952 assists.

Sidney is entering the 19th season of his career in 2023-24. His contract with the club expires after the 2024-25 season and he will become an unrestricted free agent. 

Connor McDavid - 369 Games

Connor McDavid has tied the record of 500 points with Crosby in the 369th game. Mcdavid shares the eighth place with the Penguins captain.

The star forward player serves as the captain of the Edmonton Oilers. He is the latest winner of the Ted Lindsay Award and Hart Memorial Trophy.

The 26-year-old athlete has spent 8 seasons in the NHL. Until now, he has played 569 games and recorded 303 goals, 547 assists, and 850 points.

For his accomplishments, McDavid has been handed several awards and trophies. In 2022 and 2023, he was honored with the Best NHL Player ESPY Award.

The 2023-24 season will be Connor's ninth season in the National Hockey League. He is estimated to break his career-high record for points in the upcoming season.
