Banger League also includes hits and blocked shots in addition to a standard head-to-head league category. The difficulty level is certainly high.

Past record of the players in the regular season and the playoff fixtures is considered the major determinant of the fantasy hockey ranking.

Factors such as line combinations, projected goal support, power-play usage, age of the player, and defense pairs also contribute to the ranking.

The table here shows the fantasy hockey ranking for 2023-24:

1. Connor McDavid - Center

The Oilers captain stands at the top of the NHL fantasy banger rankings. The 2015 first-overall draftee has seen immense success in the NHL.

McDavid completed the 2022-23 regular season by recording 64 goals and 89 assists for 153 points. He led the league in both goals and assists.

Connie led the NHL in assists (70) and points (100) in his first full season in 2016-17. He has won almost all the individual awards in the league.

McDavid secured the Art Ross Trophy 5 times as the leading scorer of the National Hockey League, whilst winning it straight from 2021 to 2023.

He has been awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the league three times, most recently in 2023. He is a 5-time member of the NHL First All-Star Team.

2. Leon Draisaitl - Center

The teammate of McDavid and an alternate captain of the Oilers, Draisaitl is one of the top players in the NHL fantasy projections for 2023 24.

Draisaitl won the Art Ross Trophy in 2020 by leading the NHL in points, as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy as regular season MVP. Moreover, he was named to the NHL First All-Star Team in the same year.

The German player completed his 2022-23 NHL regular season recording 52 goals and 76 assists. The Draisaitl - McDavid duo has been fantastic.

Leon was selected by the Oilers in the 2014 NHL Draft with a second overall pick. In his first full season, he recorded 51 points including 19 goals.

In March 2017, Draisaitl became the first player from the Oilers franchise to have six-straight multi-point games since 1990. The same year, he along with McDavid helped the Oilers advance to the Stanley Cup playoffs after 10 years.

3. Nathan MacKinnon - Center

An alternate captain of the Colorado Avalanche, Nathan MacKinnon was selected as the first overall pick by the franchise in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Prior to his NHL journey, Nathan played for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. He won the Memorial Cup with the Mooseheads in 2013.

MacKinnon became the Stanley Cup champion with the Avalanche in 2022. He became the youngest player ever to play for the Avalanche when he debuted with the team in the 2013-14 season.

In 2014, the Canadian center was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year. He was also named to the NHL All-Rookie Team.

Nathan finished the 2022-23 regular season with 42 goals and 69 assists for 111 points playing in a total of 71 games. During the Avalanche's run for the 2022 Stanley Cup, he led the playoffs in goals (13).

MacKinnon has been selected for the NHL All-Star Game six times, most recently in 2023. He captured the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2020.

4. David Pastrnak - Right Winger

Pastrnak completed the 2022-23 regular season with 61 goals and 52 points for 113 points. The previous season, he had 40 goals and 37 assists.

He was selected by the Bruins in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The prominent right-winger is now an alternate captain of the Bruins.

During the NHL 2019-20 regular season, Pastrnak led the National Hockey League in goals (48) and won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy.

David has been named to the NHL All-Star Game in 2019, 2020, and 2023. Moreover, he was also selected as the NHL All-Star Game MVP in 2020.

5. Matthew Tkachuk - Winger

Matthew Tkachuk is an alternate captain of the Florida Panthers. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2016 and played for them till 2021-22.

Prior to his NHL career, Tkachuk played in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the London Knights and captured the Memorial Cup in 2016. For the victory, Tkachuk scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

The versatile winger debuted in the NHL in the 2016-17 season and recorded his first NHL goal against the Buffalo Sabres in a 4-3 overtime win.

The Flames named him an alternate captain of the team ahead of the 2018-19 NHL season. He was named to the NHL All-Star game in 2020.

Matthew posted his first NHL career hat-trick in the 2018-19 season in a 6-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. He also posted his career-high points during the season.

He completed his first season with the Panthers in 2022-23 with a record of 40 goals and 69 assists for 109 points. Tkachuk was then selected for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game.

6. Mikko Rantanen - Right Wing / Center

Mikko Rantanen is also an alternate captain of the Avalanche. He was selected by the franchise in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Finnish forward was playing for the Turun Palloseura of the SM-liiga ahead of his NHL career and won the championship with them in 2015.

Mikko played his first NHL game in October 2015. Then, the Colorado Avalanche assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

The forward returned to play in the NHL in 2016 and scored his first NHL goal against the Winnipeg Jets on November 11. Rantanen had his first NHL career hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in 2017.

He played a vital role en route to leading the Avs to the Stanley Cup triumph in 2022. Rantanen completed the recent 2022-23 regular season with a record of 55 goals and 50 assists appearing in 82 games.

7. Nikita Kucherov - Right Winger

Nikita Kucherov belongs to the top-10 list of Yahoo fantasy hockey rankings. The right winger is the alternate captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kucherov quite sensationally recorded his first NHL goal in his debut game on his very first shot against the New York Rangers in November 2013.

In 2019, Nikita was awarded the Art Ross Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, and Hart Memorial Trophy. He registered 41 goals in the 2018-19 season.

He is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021. En route to the title triumph, he led the playoffs scoring both times.

In the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals, he recorded 2 assists in Game 2. During the course of his next Stanley Cup victory, Kucherov led the league with 32 points in the playoffs.

8. Auston Matthews - Center

Auston Matthews is a great option for the NHL fantasy sleepers. He was drafted as the first overall pick by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL draft.

Matthews is the first one to score 4 goals in the debut game in modern NHL history. During his first season in 2016-17, he posted 40 goals and clinched the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie for the season.

Auston led the league in goals in both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons and captured the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy. He is also the first Maple Leafs player to receive the trophy.

He was awarded the 2022 Hart Memorial Trophy as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season. He also received the 2022 Ted Lindsay Award.

Furthermore, Matthews completed the recent 2022-23 regular season with 40 goals and 45 assists for 85 points playing in a total of 74 matches.

NHL Fantasy Projection 2023-24

Connor McDavid is projected to have the most points in the 2023-24 NHL Fantasy. Leon Draisaitl follows him with a 126-point projection.
