Dallas Stars Assistant Coaches and Coaching Staff 2023-24

Dallas Stars assistant coaches for 2023-24 are Steve Spott and Alain Nasreddine. Jeff Reese serves as the goaltending coach for the Stars.

It is the second season with the Dallas franchise for Spott and Nasreddine. Spott was previously working for the Golden Knights while Alain was with the New Jersey Devils.

Reese has been serving the Stars for the last eight years having joined in June 2015. Before that, Jeff was with the Lightning where he spent 10 years in the same position.

The 2023-24 season becomes Patrick Dolan's first season in the position of Head Video Coach for the team. He's already spent four seasons with the Stars organization as a video coach. The assistant video coach, Chris Demczuk will be guiding Dolan during the matches.

Likewise, Stan Tugolukov is assigned to the role of skills coach by the team. Luke Chilcott looks after the players' skating skills and works on them.

Dallas Stars Head Coach 2023-24

Peter DeBoer is the head coach of the Stars. He previously coached Florida Panthers, NJ Devils, San Jose Sharks, and the Golden Knights.

DeBour replaced the former Dallas Stars coach Rick Bowness. Rich was in charge of the Dallas franchise before being fired by the management.

Peter's playing career was spent with Windsor Compuware Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League (IHL).

On June 21, 2022, DeBour was named the 25th head coach in the franchise history, and 10th overall in the history of the Dallas NHL franchise.

Prior to the Stars, DeBoer was serving the Vegas Golden Knights as the head coach. He joined the Knights midway through the 2019-20 season and guided the Knights to the 2020 Western Conference Final against the Stars.

Peter recorded a 98-50-12 record in 160 regular-season contests with a .650 points percentage during his coaching career with the Vegas. The Golden Knights advanced to the semifinal round in both the 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs during his career with the team.

DeBoer entered the NHL as a coach during the 2008-09 season with the Florida Panthers. He led the Panthers with a 41–30–11 record and tied with the Montreal Canadiens for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

However, the Panthers fired DeBoer after the 2011-12 season as the team's performance was relatively worse in the previous NHL seasons.

Peter stands sixth in wins and second in games coached. He has led three different NHL teams to the Stanley Cup playoffs and advanced to the Stanley Cup finals twice, making it the first time with the New Jersey Devils in 2012.

DeBour was serving as the head coach for San Jose Sharks from 2015-19, before his journey with the Golden Knights. With the Sharks, he qualified for the Stanly Cup Playoffs in four of his total five campaigns.

Moreover, the San Jose Sharks advanced to its first Stanley Cup finals during the 2015-16 season with DeBour leading the team.

Steve Spott

The Stars hired Steve Spott as their assistant coach on July 1, 2022. His NHL coaching career began earlier with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Steve collected two gold medals with Team Canada at the Under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament; one in 2008 as an assistant coach and another in 2011 as a head coach. He also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Championship as an assistant.

Spott joined the Maple Leafs in 2013 and worked for the team until the Leafs fired him on April 12, 2015. San Jose Sharks named him as their assistant coach in August of the same year. After spending four years with the Sharks, he left the team on December 11, 2019.

On January 28, 2020, Steve was announced as an assistant coach for the Vegas Golden Knights, reuniting him with Peter DeBoer. The Golden Knights relieved him from the service on May 16, 2022.

Alain Nasreddine

The Canadian former ice hockey defenceman Alain Nasreddine is serving the Dallas NHL team as an assistant coach since July 1, 2022.

Nasreddine's coaching career began with the AHL team, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as an assistant coach in the 2010-11 season.

Likewise, his NHL career began with the New Jersey Devils. He was selected by the Devils on June 17, 2015, as an assistant coach for the team.

Nasreddine became interim head coach of the Devils on December 3, 2019. His journey with the New Jersey Devils ended on May 4, 2022.

Dallas Stars fired coach Jim Montgomery on December 10, 2019, for his unprofessional conduct. He was in the position for more than a year.

Bob Gainey

The Hockey Hall of Famer, Bob Gainey became the first head coach of the Stars franchise in 1993 and served the team for three years till 1996.

Gainey spent his NHL career playing for Montreal Canadiens from 1973 until 1989. After retiring as a professional player, he started as a hockey coach and executive for the Dallas Stars.

He served his old home Minnesota Wild as a manager from 2003 to 2010. As of now, he is serving the St. Louis Blues as a team consultant. He is also a volunteer senior advisor for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League.

Ken Hitchcock

Ken Hitchcock became the head coach of the Stars on 8 Jan 1996, replacing Bob Gainey. Bob remained with the Stars as a general manager.

Hitchcock led the Stars to a first-place finish in the Central Division and a playoff berth during his first full season with the team. He was selected to his first of three consecutive NHL All-Star Game teams as a coach in the 1997–98 season.

During the NHL 1998–99 season, Dallas Stars won their first Stanley Cup under the tutelage of Hitchcock, with a victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

The Stars continued their sensational form and advanced to the Stanley Cup finals in the next season too but lost to the New Jersey Devils.

Dave Tippett

Dallas selected Dave Tippett as their head coach on May 16, 2002. He is a former NHL left winger for the Capitals, Penguins, and Flyers.

During the 2002-03 season, the Stars finished in first place in the Pacific Division with 111 points in Tippett's first season with the franchise.

Dave led Dallas to a 53-23-6 record during the 2005-6 season and the team earned 112 points. It became the second-highest total in the Conference.

Tippett is another Dallas Stars coach fired by the management. He was relieved from duty on June 10, 2009, and replaced by Marc Crawford.
