Climate Pledge Arena Purse Policy restricts any wallets or clutches exceeding 4.5" X 6.5". There are exceptions for medical and diaper bags.

The home of the 32nd NHL expansion team Seattle Kraken, the arena does allow its visitors to bring one clear bag but it must fall within the size limitations mentioned in their bag policy.

Moreover, it is also home to the WNBA's Seattle Storm and the Seattle University Redhawks men's basketball team. It was previously home to the NBA's Seattle Supersonics on and off from 1967 to 2008.

The Seattle landmark was closed for renovations in October 2018 and opened to the public on October 19, 2021, as the Climate Pledge Arena.

Seattle Kraken played the Vancouver Canucks on Oct 23. This was the Krakens regular season game and the first sporting event held at the arena.

The game against the Canucks ended with the Krakens losing. Their first home win at the venue was against the Canadiens on October 26, 2021.

Climate Pledge Arena Bag Rules

Climate Pledge Arena bag policy only allows small clutches, wallets, purses, and one clear bag provided they comply with their size limitations.

The Arena requests their visitors to not bring any sort of bags with specifications provided on the type and the size of bags patrons can bring with them. They do not provide on-site bag checking for bags that do not meet their criteria.

For the one clear bag allowed for visitors, the size of that bag must not be larger than 14'' x 14" x 6". They do allow medical bags and diaper bags in the venue but they will be searched and examined upon entry.

The Kraken Arena has claimed to be the first arena and NHL team to announce its intention to be 100% free of single-use plastic bags by 2024.

Keeping in line with their sustainability goals they allow a reusable water bottle within the premises. The bottle must be non-glass, under 32 oz and it must be completely empty as there are "water bottle filling stations" made available by the arena.

Is Climate Pledge Arena the Old Key Arena?

Yes, the Climate Pledge Arena is the old Key Arena. It was closed for renovations in October 2018 and reopened as the Climate Pledge Arena.

The multi-purpose indoor arena was earlier named after KeyBank, following the purchase of naming rights in April 1995. The Key Arena was home to the Seattle SuperSonics before their move to Oklahoma City.

The name Key Arena was officially retired after it was closed in October 2018 by the Seattle Center and the Oak View Group. On 25 June 2020, Amazon purchased the naming rights for the center.

The venue was then named after The Climate Pledge. The Climate Pledge was co-founded in 2019 by Amazon working with Global Optimism.

The sign of the Key Arena which was on the rooftop of the Arena was removed in July 2020 and replaced by the new sign on December 2020.
