The 2023-24 regular season is set to begin on 10 October with a tripleheader broadcast. With the season just a few days away, the predictions for the Stanley Cup have hit the market. 

Boston Bruins are one of the original six NHL teams and rank fourth in the number of times they have won the championship. The Bruins have lifted the ultimate title six times in NHL history.

The last time Bruins won Stanley Cup was in 2011 ending the 39-year drought. They defeated the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the Finals.

For a team with such a storied history, the Bruins have yet again gone on a 12-year title wait. They would be looking forward to doing everything in their prowess to clinch the championship this time around.

The Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup 24 times, holding the record for most trophies in the NHL. However, their odds of winning the 2024 Stanley Cup is at +12600.

Boston Bruins Line Combinations

The Bruins line combination includes James van Riemsdyk, Pavel Zacha, and David Pastrnak on the forwards. Zacha starts center for the Bruins. 

James van Riemsdyk joined as a free agent for the Bruins on July 1, 2023. The 34-year-old American will play left winger for the Boston team.

Riemsdyk earlier played for the Flyers from 2018-23. He made his NHL debut as a 2nd overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft by Philadelphia Flyers.

Pavel Zacha is a two-way center for the Bruins. The Czech forward signed a $19 million four-year contract with the team on 14 January 2023.

Zacha debuted in the NHL on 9 April 2016 against the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season. He played for the New Jersey Devils during his debut after being drafted 6th at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the franchise. 

His debut match earned him a plus-4 rating in 16:51 ice time and two assists. Following that, in the 2018-19 season, he scored an NHL career-high 13 goals for the Devils in 61 games.

The 25th overall 2014 NHL Draft pick, right-winger David Pastrnak completes the team's forward line combinations for the 2023-24 season. 

He scored his first two NHL goals on 10 January 2015 against the Philadelphia Flyers in a 3-1 victory at Wells Fargo Center. He completed the 2014-15 season with 27 points (17 assists and ten goals). 

Pastrnak tied with Alex Ovechkin for the league leader with 48 goals and shared the Maurice Richard Trophy with him during the 2019-20 NHL season. They also tied with 95 points for third in the NHL during that season. 

David was allocated as the captain during the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. He played his 500th NHL game on 19th March 2022, all for the Bruins.

The last time Boston won Stanley Cup was in 2011 against the Vancouver Canucks in a 4-3 victory in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The 2011 championship took place in four games at the Rogers Arena and three at the TD Garden. Rogers Arena held the playoffs' final match.

Zdeno Chara was the team captain back then, whereas Patrice Bergeron and Mark Recchi were the alternate captains. The B's played under the tutelage of head coach Claude Julien en route to a phenomenal success.

With that title triumph, the Bruins rank fourth on the list of the teams with the most Stanley Cup championships, only behind the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Detroit Red Wings.

Brad Marchand

Brad Marchand is the Bruins left-winger and the current team captain. He was drafted in the third round by the Bruins in the 2006 NHL Draft. 

Marchand was drafted after his record of 69 points (37 assists and 29 goals) for Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Moncton in 68 games.

Brad became the 27th captain in the Bruins history on 20 Sep 2023 at the age of 35 years, succeeding Patrice Bergeron after his retirement.

Marchand is in his 15th NHL season with the team and played a significant role in the 2011 Stanley Cup wins for the franchise with 19 points (eight assists and 11 goals) in 25 playoff games. 

In addition, he has played 947 NHL games to date. He is ranked 4th in the Bruins' history to score the most game-winning goals with 71 goals. 

Internationally, Marchand scored the winning goal for Canada at the World Cup of Hockey 2016 against Team Europe. He also led the Canadian team to the gold during the 2007 and 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2016 IIHF World Championship. 

Charlie McAvoy

The Bruins chose Charlie McAvoy as the 14th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He was during his freshman season at Boston University.

McAvoy debuted in the NHL in the 2017 Eastern Conference First Round's 1st game against the Ottawa Senators. He got the chance to debut due to multiple injuries to the Bruins' defensemen right after he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the team. 

Charlie later played a significant role in leading the Bruins to the 2019 Stanley Cup finals with 8 points (six assists and two goals) in 23 games despite his injuries.
